“Healthy Body
& Mind

is the mantra.”

— Moon Yueh Fong, Acupuncturist, Chinese herbalist and Founder of Moon Medicine

At Moon Medicine, we believe that true health begins with understanding the underlying cause.

Many concerns, such as fatigue, PMS, poor sleep, bloating, hormonal imbalances, fertility issues, or skin problems, can be signs of a deeper pattern within the body. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), we therefore look beyond individual symptoms and consider the body’s overall internal balance.

This means looking at your menstrual cycle, digestion, sleep, stress, energy levels, ability to recover, and the signals your body may have been giving you for some time.

About Xiaoyin Chen

Xiaoyin Chen’s journey into acupuncture has been shaped by an unusual combination of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Western education, and a lifelong curiosity about how things work.

She studied Traditional Chinese Medicine at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, where she developed a strong foundation in Chinese medicine and traditional Chinese herbal medicine. She performed particularly well in her studies, including achieving a score of 96 out of 100 in core subjects such as the Basic Theory of Chinese Medicine and Chinese herbal medicine.

In 2008, Xiaoyin moved to the Netherlands. After learning Dutch, she went on to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Econometrics, taught in Dutch, followed by a Master’s degree in Econometrics, taught in English, at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Her training in econometrics strengthened her analytical and problem-solving skills: qualities that continue to influence the way she approaches her work today.

Her personal experience eventually brought her back to Chinese medicine.

While studying in the Netherlands, Xiaoyin developed a health condition for which surgery had been recommended. When conventional treatment did not provide the improvement she had hoped for, she decided to try acupuncture. After three acupuncture treatments, her condition improved to the point that she no longer needed to proceed with the recommended surgery.

This experience had a profound impact on her. It renewed her passion for Chinese medicine and inspired her to pursue acupuncture professionally.

Xiaoyin has always been fascinated by the process of finding solutions. Whether working through complex mathematical problems, identifying issues in data models, or approaching challenges in everyday life, she naturally looks for patterns and connections. As an acupuncturist, she brings this same curiosity and careful observation to understanding each patient as an individual.

Her interest in Chinese medicine extends beyond acupuncture itself. With a particular fascination for Daoist medicine, Xiaoyin has travelled across China and sought guidance from Daoist teachers, exploring traditional knowledge and its relevance in modern life.

For Xiaoyin, acupuncture is not simply about addressing a symptom. In keeping with the philosophy of Moon Medicine, she looks at the person as a whole and at the underlying patterns that may be contributing to their health concerns.

Her background in Chinese medicine, econometrics, and traditional philosophy allows her to bring different perspectives to her practice while maintaining a deep respect for the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She is committed to providing attentive, personalised care and supporting each patient on their individual journey towards greater health and wellbeing.

Clinic Hours

Xiaoyin currently practises at Moon Medicine on Mondays and Saturdays.
